If ever there was a player born to play T20 cricket, it would be Victoria’s Aiden Blizzard. After all, it is hard to see a cricketer, whose last name means a violent snowstorm, do anything apart from create a storm of his own in the middle.

And though we might not have had an avalanche of runs from Blizzard in the one match he has played in the Champions League T20, in Australia this 25-year-old is widely considered as one to look out for in this format.

Blizzard will get a chance to get among the runs when Victoria play their second group against Wayamba Elevens on Tuesday. And he is hoping to do some destructive work out in the middle.

“We have been waiting for this opportunity for 12 months now. The tournament got cancelled last year but this time it is happening. I can’t wait to unleash my bat,” Blizzard told the Hindustan Times.

Blizzard burst on to the scene in 2007 with a whirlwind 89 off 38 in a T20 game at the Adelaide Oval. His innings included eight sixes. Known to be a clean-hitter, Blizzard is also being termed in Australia as someone ‘better than David Warner’. But does Blizzard agree?

“Not at all mate. I just go out and try to enjoy myself with the bat. People make a lot of comparisons but I don’t take that seriously,” said Blizzard, who has an incredible strike-rate of 157 in T20 cricket.

“Doing well for Victoria is my number one priority. I like hitting the ball hard and like scoring consistently.”

After defeating Delhi Daredevils comprehensively in their first game, Victoria will look to join the other Australian outfit New South Wales Blues in the League stage.

“We are pretty confident about playing Wayamba. They have many experienced players but we have many youngsters waiting to fire,” said Blizzard who usually bats at No. 3 in the line-up.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan outfit will have some re-thinking to do after getting thrashed by Delhi on Sunday.
