Blind dog gets by with own own leader dog
Oslo - A blind dog has grabbed headlines in Norway after it was reported Thursday that she is able to live quite a normal life, thanks to her own leader dog.
Dea, a Toy Pomeranian, gets by with help from her two-year older brother, Lobo, and Kare the cat, the Farsunds Avis newspaper reported.
The 12-year-old Dea was born without eyes but her owners Unni Brit Bekkelund and Bjorn-Harald Mydland fell for her when they saw her as a puppy.
"Lobo is like a leader dog, without him Dea would not have managed so well," Mydland told the newspaper.
Bekkelund noted that if they move furniture in their home in Spind, south-western Norway, Dea often bumps into it. To prove the point, Dea bumped into a visiting photographer's camera bag placed on the floor.
On the other hand, Bekkelund said, Dea also seems to sense visitors approach the house and barks earlier than her brother. (dpa)
