Bharti Infratel records 34% rise in net profit
Tower unit of telecom major Bharti Airtel, Bharti Infratel has recorded a growth of 34.11 per cent in net profit to Rs. 287 crore during the fourth quarter of the financial year 2012-2013.
The company had recorded a net profit of Rs. 214 crore during the same quarter of the previous year. The total income of the company rose 11.27 per cent to Rs. 2,674 crore during the quarter from January to March,
2013 compared to Rs. 2,403 crore in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2011-2012.
Company's Vice-Chairman & MD Akhil Gupta said, "We are pleased that our results demonstrate and reaffirms our robust business model. As a result, despite a relatively low capex deployment by telecom operators last year due to uncertainties in the telecom sector, our result reflects the significant incremental gain from increased sharing of our infrastructure."
The company had managed to raise Rs. 4,200 crore through an initial public offering (IPO) during the previous year. The company will use the funds raised to install new towers and replace existing towers in its wide network. Bharti Infratel has a total tower base of 82,083 acrossregions.
