Baltic markets close flat

Riga - The three Baltic stock exchanges recorded two modest losses and a gain Friday, giving some respite after a largely negative week.

The NASDAQ OMX Tallinn exchange closed down just 0.40 per cent, Vilnius was down 1.60 per cent and the smallest of the three Baltic exchanges in Riga actually rose by 2.69 per cent, largely thanks to an 11 per cent rise in the share price of alcoholic drinks maker Latvijas Balzams, which has announced it is starting exports to Canada.

The Baltic Benchmark Index (BBI) which includes data from all three exchanges, closed down 1.20 per cent at 318.05. (dpa)
