Austrian supermarket chain to send shoppers into space
Vienna - Austrian supermarket chain Penny is offering space flights to its shoppers for 210,000 euros (313,000 dollars), the company announced Tuesday.
The discount retailer is selling tickets for flights to be operated by Oklahoma-based company Rocketplane Global from late 2011.
After five days of training, a rocket plane would bring travellers to an altitude of around 117,000 metres, where they would experience weightlessness for a few minutes.
However, bargain-hunters would do well to shop around for prices: On Rocketplane's website, the flights are offered for 250,000 dollars. (dpa)
