Australian team in dilemma over struggling players
Sydney, Oct 20: Following the retirement of several senior players like Mathew Hayden, Justin Langer, Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath, the Australian selectors and skipper Ricky Ponting are in a dilemma over the potential squad to face India.
The Australians are also facing injuries to some crucial players and disappointing performances by Mike Hussey, Phil Hughes, Mitchell Johnson and Stuart Clark.
There is a big question over the fate of spearhead Brett Lee. While Lee insists that he has recovered from his rib muscle injury, the selectors feel he has been not able to give off.
There is also a feeling that emerging pacers Ben Hilfenhaus and Peter Siddle have been impressive, in patches, making them vulnerable during international tours.
Mike Hussey is a major worry despite his 121 in the final Ashes Test on a nightmare Oval pitch. Hussey has hardly scored a run, but is still seen as reliable middle-order troubleshooter, The Courier-Mail reports. (ANI)
