US Food and Drug Administration have given approval to Cephazone Pharma, a joint venture between Hyderabad-based Aurobindo Pharma and US-based Medphamex for its anti-bacterial veterinary medicine.

Aurobindo Pharma said that the drug, ceftiofur sodium sterile powder, is the generic version of Pfizer's Naxcel and is used in the treatment of various bacterial infections in animals including dogs, swine, horses and cattle.
