Asif Ali Zardari, Nawaz Sharif to meet in Bhurban today
Islamabad, Mar. 9 : The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will hold a make or break meeting in Bhurban today.
"It will be the final session," PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif told reporters on Saturday, explaining that there had been a number of sessions between the two parties to discuss their differences.
"We are moving forward for a national cause but the issue of the restoration of judges (sacked on November 3) is on top of our party's agenda and there should be no confusion on this," the Daily Times quoted Sharif, as saying.
PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari will reach Bhurban along with his aides.
"Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari will also hold a one-on-one meeting," the sources said.
The PML-N negotiators – Senator Ishaq Dar, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Khawaja Asif and Ahsan Iqbal – briefed Sharif on Saturday about their meetings with their PPP counterparts, who also had a detailed meeting with Asif Zardari before finalising the PPP's strategy for today's meeting.
The PPP and the PML-N have so far failed to develop consensus on a host of issues, including announcement of a definite timeframe for the restoration of the sacked judges.
Sharif's party has been reluctant to accept any cabinet slots in the Centre and remains firm on its stance of extending "unconditional support" to the PPP without joining the government.
On the other hand, the PPP has linked its support to the PML-N in the Punjab to the PML-N sharing power with it in the Centre. Asked whether the PML-N was ready to join the cabinet, Sharif told journalists that the decision on the issue would be made in Sunday meeting. (ANI)
