Arsenal and City on song, United back on track

Arsenal and City on song, United back on track London  - Arsenal and Manchester City both made it two wins out of two this season on Saturday, while champions Manchester United got their season back on track with a 5-0 victory at Wigan Athletic.

Arsenal were comfortable 4-1 victors over struggling Portsmouth, Abou Diaby scoring twice on his 100th appearance for the club.

United, after their shock 1-0 defeat at Burnley on Wednesday, struggled for a time, but a second-half double from Wayne Rooney - the first his 100th for the club - and goals from Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Owen, his first for the club, and Nani settled their match at Wigan.

City, meanwhile, dominated far more than a 1-0 scoreline may suggest against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Emmanuel Adebayor got the only goal after 17 minutes.

Kenwyne Jones struck twice as Sunderland came from behind to beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at the Stadium of Light.

Hull City recorded their first home win of 2009 with a 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers, while Birmingham City and Stoke City drew 0-0.  (dpa)
