Areva T&D Bags New Order; Expects Two-Fold Increase In Sales By 2010
Areva T&D India Ltd, the Indian arm of French energy firm Areva SA, is eyeing two-fold increase in its sales revenues by 2010.
Rathin Basu, Areva T&D India's country president and managing director said, “We should be doubling capacity by 2010, so we should be doubling sales by then.”
Philippe Guillemot, Areva’s executive committee member and T&D unit Chairman and CEO, said, “The transmission and distribution market will continue to grow in India, China and Russia. India is the fastest growing market if you include the exports.”
The company, on Tuesday, has bagged an order worth Rs 418 crore from Essar Constructions to supply equipment to the Essar’s power plant projects in Gujarat as well as Madhya Pradesh.
The scope of the contract, scheduled to be finished by Feb 2010, consists of supply and commissioning of switchyards, generator circuit breakers and distribution transformers.
The contract would also provide electrical balance of plant, which lessens intricacy in co-ordination and improves projects delivery time.
Areva T&D India offers transmission and distribution services and also manufactures power equipment.
