Apps can access pictures on Apple devices without user consent
According to some app developers, the pictures on Apple devices such as an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch can be easily assessed by app developers after the user allows the access to location information.
After getting the permission to access the location information from the users, the app developers can copy the entire photo library of the users without any further permission being required from the users.
It is now known if any of the apps are accessing or copying photos illegitimately from user devices but the way can be used to invade privacy of the users. Apple claims that it had barred all photo copying and it follows a strict system of screening apps before allowing them into the Apple App Store.
Apple was under criticism earlier this month when it was found that some apps are copying address book data without user consent. The same might be the case with pictures as Apple also forbids copying address book data and the company had approved several apps, which violated its rules.
Apple has not commented on the matter.
