Apples launches iTunes Store for Indian customers
American technology giant, Apple has launched a new version of its popular iTunes Store specially aimed at the Indian customers.
Apple's iTunes Music Store is now live in India and it is offering an easy way to purchase movies and music online to the customers in the country. The store was launched for the customers on 4 December, 2012 in 56 new countries, including India. The launch is long due in the country considering the fast that the company started selling music in 2003 in the US market.
The platform allows customers to not only buy music but also rent movies at reasonable rates. The iTunes program is available for free for Mac and Windows platforms and it is already installed on iOs devices like iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
There are more than 20 million songs available to purchase and download from the platform from various labels and independent labels. The store also offers Indian content from leading labels including Sony Music, Universal Music, EMI Records, Saregama, T-Series and YRF Music for the customers. Individual songs cost from Rs 7 to Rs 15 averaging at Rs. 12 whereas albums start at Rs 70. On the other hand, movies start at Rs 190 and going up to Rs 490 for an HD version. Rented movies start from Rs 80 for standard definition and Rs 120 for high definition.
