Apple to release details about discussion on cash reserves
Technology giant, Apple has said that it will release the details of internal discussion over how best to use the huge balance of the company on Monday.
The company will release details about what it aims to do with the $98 billion cash balance. The world's most valuable company had issued a press advisory. The short note said that the company would hold a conference call on Monday to discuss the matter.
Market analysts say that the company might announce a dividend as it has about $98 billion in cash and securities. Apple CEO Tim Cook and Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer are to discuss the matter in a conference call on Monday morning.
If the company decides to issue a dividend it would reward shareholders and also allow other investors including several value-oriented funds to start investing in the company as they are permitted to invest only in companies that provide dividends.
Oppenheimer has indicated on 24 January that the company board was discussing ways to use the cash. Mainly on expectations of a dividend the shares of the company has risen 37 percent since the 24 January. Experts say that the share prices are still being held back due to a possibility of other uses of the cash balance.
