Apple to discuss iCloud service at WDC

Apple to discuss iCloud service at WDCTechnology giant, Apple has confirmed reports that it will discuss the much anticipated cloud services offering, iCloud during its annual Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) next week.

The company also said that CEO Steve Jobs, who has been in a medical leave since the beginning of the year, will attend the event and discuss forthcoming versions of the company's desktop and mobile operating system software besides iCloud. Jobs had delivered the keynote at the last year’s edition of the company's developer conference.

The company is believed to have entered into agreements with record labels allowing it offer cloud based storage service to its users. The users will be able to access their music files from any Mac OS X or iOS device via streaming playback through a Wi-fi network or a telecom network. The service will also be able to sync files across supported devices wirelessly.

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, the company has signed deals with Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and EMI and will soon conclude agreements with Universal Music Group.

The iCloud based service will be hosted in Apple’s $1 billion data center in Maiden, North Carolina.
