Anti-racism code to be drawn by ICC

Anti-racism code to be drawn by ICCAn anti-racism code, which will run parallel with the existing Code of Conduct will soon be prepared by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

ICC informed via a statement, “The decision to draft the code was ratified at the conclusion of the two-day Chief Executives Committee (CEC) meeting here on Sunday. The code will be drawn up after receiving written comments and suggestions from the members.”

Stronger action against teams, which fall short in maintaining the over rates were also called by the members of the CEC. Need for taking of stronger stance against players who are found guilty of verbal abuse was also felt by the CEC members.

The ICC board was also recommended by the CEC that the role of the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) should be expanded to include liaising and managing safety, security and, terrorism intelligence matters with independent consultants.

Furthermore, it was also agreed by all the full members and the top-six associate members to have in place World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)-compliant codes by July 1. In order to allow any necessary amendments to be made by the required deadline, CEC also agreed that draft copies of each member’s anti-doping code must be with the ICC by March 1.
