Antibody may help prevent against influenza

Antibody may help prevent against influenzaResearchers claim of recognizing a monoclonal antibody that proves to be beneficial against "Avian" H5N1, seasonal H1N1 and the "Swine" H1N1 influenza.

The research report revealed by a group of scientists at Sea Lane Biotechnologies, LLC, in alliance with St. Jude Research Hospital the Scripps Research Institute, and Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, it was discovered that the antibody assists in bestowing confrontation and cure the Swine H1N1 influenza in mouse replica of the ailment as per the sources.

Earlier works done on this antibody, A06, helped bring out the "first in class" action against the Avian H5N1 and H1N1 influenzas.

According to the researchers the antibody aims at a conserved region of the viral coat protein, hemagluttinin, which results in providing an extra sheath of protection to genetically distinct strains. This study however proves to come handy in laboratory conditions but yet it needs to be seen how effective it is in actual process.
