Angry Birds-maker Rovio launches its latest title – Bad Piggies

Angry Birds-maker Rovio launches its latest title – Bad PiggiesAfter mobile gaming developer Rovio's recent release `Amazing Alex' failed to sustain its initial success to become a blockbuster like the 2009-launched `Angry Birds' title, the Finland-based company is banking on its newest game --- `Bad Piggies.'

Essentially a sequel to its outrageously popular Angry Birds game - which has witnessed more than 1 billion downloads; and attracted nearly 200 million active players every month till 2011-end -, Bad Piggies is also set in cartoon-type physics-based surroundings.

One of the key differences between Angry Birds and Bad Piggies, however, is that rather than launching birds out of catapults as in the former game, the players would now have to build vehicles - out of an assortment of components - for sending the pigs to the finish line; and collecting stars along the way.

According to the early reviews of Rovio's Bag Piggies title, the new game underscores a comparatively much tougher challenge than the previous series; with gamers now having to construct vehicles for reaching the birds' eggs.

However, asserting Rovio's confidence that Bad Piggies will attract casual gamers, Petri Jarvilehto - head of gaming at Rovio - said that the company views the new game as "a long-term brand-building exercise;" and added: "In three years from now we want to see Angry Birds and Bad Piggies as strong vibrant brands out there."
