AMU To Honour Abdul Kalam With Doctorate Degree

For his devoted efforts in the arena of education as well as research, the Former Indian President Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam former Indian President Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam will be conferred honorary doctorate by the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) during its convocation later this month.

The University will also honor well-known agricultural scientist M.S. Swaminathan, industrialist Ratan Tata and IT-major Wipro’s CEO Azim Premji at the convocation.

Dr. Kalam will reach Aligarh a day before the convocation to spend some time with children studying at 50 schools in the city.

Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam was the eleventh President of India, serving from 2002 to 2007. Because of his unconventional working approach, he is also popularly known as the People’s President. Before his term as Indian president, he distinguished himself as engineering prophet and was honored with India's highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna in 1997 for his work with DRDO and his position as scientific advisor to the Indian government.
