Amazon Kindle Fire pre-orders to reach 2.5 million units
US retail giant, Amazon has started accepting pre-orders for its newly revealed Kindle Fire tablet and according to some reports the retailer might be able to sell as many as 2.5 million units of the new tablet, which is expected to take on Apple iPad.
The new 7-inch tablet will be powered by Google's Android operating system providing users with the choice of thousands of apps from the Android ecosystem as well as useful content-based and other apps from Amazon itself.
Just like Apple, Amazon has been stressing more on Fire's abilities and ecosystem rather than that's inside the chassis like operating system or storage ability as it understands that ecosystems has become probably the most important component behind the success of any device, be it a tablet or even smartphone.
Analysts say that if any company has the potential to challenge Apple in the segment its Amazon. Amazon has certain advantages such as a fan base due to its Kindle e-book reader and wide collection of content for customers. If the company is able to provide an attractive ecosystem along with its tablet for consumers, the new tablet might threaten the dominance of Apple in the market.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos unveiled the slate Sept. 28 in New York City announcing that the device will be launche don November 15 and will come for just $199 and one month of Amazon Prime free two-day shipping and Instant Videos.
