Brussels - Police in Belgium have arrested 14 suspect members of al-Qaeda accused of preparing a terrorist attack on its territory, Belgian media reported Thursday.

The arrests were the result of "dozens" of early morning raids carried out by the police, the Flemish VTM television channel reported.

Police sources said three of the arrested had recently returned from Afghanistan and that one of them had recently bid his relatives farewell. (dpa)
