The global telecommunications solutions provider – Alcatel-Lucent has been chosen to set up mobile network to support the initial launch of GSM/EDGE mobile service of the telecom subsidiary of the real estate developer, Unitech Ltd. – Unitech Wireless. The Unitech Wireless has contracted the Alcatel-Lucent to set up turn-key GSM/EDGE networks in Kerala and Orissa circles.

According to the contract, Alcatel-Lucent will design, deploy and maintain its multi-standard GSM/EDGE radio access solution including its latest Base Station Controller platform and TWIN transceivers, along with a next-generation network (NGN) mobile core network.  

Alcatel-Lucent will set up the network of Unitech Wireless and provide operations management under a comprehensive management services contract. It will provide a wide range of services including project management, network design, integration, testing, installation, multi-vendor radio network planning and optimization and network management.

The Unitech Wireless’ contract has underscored strong presence of Alcatel-Lucent in the Indian mobile networking market. Alcatel-Lucent is a leading player in the global GSM/EDGE global market. The Paris, France based telecommunications corporation has more than 190 customers in over 100 countries. Alcatel-Lucent provides its solutions to telecom service providers, enterprises and governments.
