Albany State Lady Rams wins SIAC Tournament title
On Sunday, the Albany State Lady Rams won the SIAC Tournament title by beating Benedict 72-64. The Lady Rams showed no tiredness and end the first half with a 36-32 lead.
According to Head coach Robert Skinner, it is great honor to represent the SIAC and the city of Albany. Skinner said that the majority of their players were in bed by 9 o’clock. They all know that they had to get an early morning start, so they all woke up early and had breakfast according to their routine.
The selection committee is going to meet and will make an announcement about the official NCAA Division II tournament matchups. According to Skinner, this year they’re well prepared for the challenges playing on a grand stage.
The Head coach also said that he thinks that this year they are well prepared even they have two or three ball players healing and mending. The Lady Rams scored 23 points from BC (23-6) miscues and shot 36 percent overall.
“Mecca took it on herself because she knew they were gonna leave her open all the time. So by them leaving her open, she just shot the basketball”, said Skinner. Adding to it, Skinner also said that she proved that she was much an offensive power as anybody on our team.
In the second half, 3-pointers from Keidra Green and Zuri Frost, ASU got an easy 10-point lead with 17:40 left. It has been informed that the senior guard led the team with 26 points and 10 rebounds in the championship game. The senior guard normally plays the role of facilitator.
