Multi-talented actor Akshay Kumar has topped the list of income tax payers in the Bollywood industry.

Akki, who has pushed King Khan to the No. 2 position, paid Rs 19 crore in taxes, and turned the highest taxpayer in the country this year.

On the other hand, Shahrukh Khan has paid around Rs 15 crore in income tax.

On the celebrity tax payer list, the third position goes to Hrithik Roshan with a payment of Rs 8 crore, while Aamir Khan is on fourth place, who paid Rs 7 crore as income tax.

Last year, a ranking of top tax payers on the strength of advance tax collections up to December, 2007, hints that none of the country’s industrialists are among the top-20 list though Shahrukh (8th) and UP chief minister Mayawati (19th) have figured on the list.

After giving so many mega hits including Namastey London, Heyy Babyy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Welcome and Singh Is Kinng, Akshay has become the new king of Bollywood.

‘Singh is Kinng’, which saw a record opening in India as well as abroad, was one of the highest grossers during the last year (2008).

In the meantime, audiences are desperately looking forward to Akshay’s upcoming flick ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ which is slated for release on 16th January 2009.

Directed by Nikhil Advani, the star cast of the film includes Akshay, Deepika Padukone, Mithun Chakraborty and Hong Kong veteran Gordon Liu.
