Airbnb valued up to $25.5 billion

Airbnb, the online accommodation hub, has arranged to raise $1.5 billion and that has increased its value up to $25.5 billion. In the discussions meant to expand Airbnb’s offerings in Asia, many American and Chinese investment funds were involved.

The funds include General Atlantic, Tiger Global Management, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Horizon Ventures and China Broadband. As per the source known to the matter, the deal could be announced by next week.

At the value of $25.5 billion, Airbnb would be worth more than hotels like Marriott ($20.90 billion), Starwood ($14 billion) and Wyndham ($10.01 billion). The home rental company was launched in San Francisco in 2008.

Because the company is not publicly traded, it does not have to publish it figures. However, it has been found that its sales have increased from $250 million to $850 million in two years.
