Air traffic hit in Mumbai in the wake of attack
Terror stricken Mumbai would take more time to resume normal air services. The air services are expected to be further hit in the coming days, following the impact of the terrorist attack on the financial and entertainment capital of the nation. Leading international carriers halted air services after the attack and marginally resume on Friday. The Mumbai airport witnessed 13 cancellations by the carriers like GoAir, Indigo and Kingfisher.
TNT NV (TNTTY) closed its one office in the city and is currently using Europe-Delhi route for some shipments. DHL expects more delay in shipments in the next 48 hours after the terror attack. The company is a unit of Deutsche Post (DPW. XE) and one of the largest operators in India. FedEx Corp.
(FDX) expects the impact of the attack, amid large scale security arrangements in the city. United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS) said that it has temporarily suspended services in the city but working normally in other parts of the country. Meanwhile, other major commercial airlines like Continental Airlines Inc. (CAL), Delta Airlines Inc. (DAL), Deutsche Lufthansa AG (LHA. XE) and Dubai-based carrier- Emirates Airline have either resumed or planning to resume services in the city.
