AIFF talks tough, clamps down on errant players
Zero tolerance. That's what the All India Football Federation (AIFF) believes in as far players' behaviour is concerned.
In its bid to clamp down on indiscipline, the AIFF on Wednesday imposed a fine of Rs 10, 000 on India and Mohun Bagan defender Dipak Mondal, who was given marching orders following a double booking in the match against JCT last week.
"He has been asked to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 within 10 days," said an AIFF official after its disciplinary committee meeting on Wednesday.
The AIFF also suspended Daljit Singh for one match. Though the JCT player was not even shown a yellow, the AIFF handed him the suspension based on video evidence of the Punjab outfit's match against East Bengal.
