After Heart Transplant, 15-Year-Old Boy Captures His Emotional, Happy Moments on Video

Trevor Sullivan of Detroit is a 15 years old child who asked his mother to capture his first moments of life with a new heart on camera. This child underwent heart transplant on November 13 at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This emotional video of the child with his father encourages many organ donors.

Trevor was ill for almost a year; the illness was mistaken as an allergy by his parents. It only came to notice that the child was suffering from severe Cardiomyopathy in February 2015 when his heart got failed and he was taken to the hospital immediately. The boy had to wait for eight months to finally find a donor in November 2015, and the very next day the surgery for heart transplant was scheduled.

“I'm so happy; I’ve been waiting so long. I can breathe again and talk. I feel amazing. I've never felt so good”, said Trevor in the video after waking up from anesthesia following the surgery. The video is very touching as the boy shared his thoughts with his emotional parents after waking up the first time post-surgery. It wasn’t completely known whether the boy would survive the surgery or not.

Philip Sullivan, father to the boy, posted the video on the Facebook page for the Gift of Life Michigan, this non-profit organization promotes organ and tissue donation. The video got tens of thousands of views. The family of boy rose money to cover medical expenses by setting up a GoFundMe page. Sullivan said he's happy that so many people have seen the video and hopes that more people will sign up to become organ donors.
