AFC allows Asian Football to Return To IraqThe Asian Football Confederation (AFC), on Wednesday, has decided to permit the Asian continental competitions including both national team and club sides to be played in the Iraq again.

AFC announced that the city of Arbil would be eligible to host matches between different countries and clubs of the Asia.

Last week, a friendly match was played between Iraq and Palestine in the Kurdish city, which was the first match played by Iraq national team on the home soil since 2002.

After clearance of Arbil by AFC, the Iraqi Football Association (IFA) will be looking to get clearance of two more cities including Baghdad and Sulaimaniya.

IFA president Hussein Saeed said that he has also been optimistic to get approval of the remaining two cities by the AFC.
 
Arbil will host 2010 AFC Under-19 Championship qualifiers and Kuwait Sports Club on September 30 in the quarter-finals of the AFC Cup.
