Advocate of open-carry gun laws in Wisconsin barred from possessing weaponsAccording to media reports, a vocal advocate of open-carry gun laws in Wisconsin has been barred from possessing any weapons while he fights a murder charge.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has reported that a judge made that a condition of Jesus Gonzalez's bail on Thursday. Gonzalez was released on $100,000 bail last week.

It was also reported that Gonzalez shot and killed Danny John, 29, and wounded his nephew, Jered Corn, 21, on May 9. Gonzalez said the two men, who had been in a tavern near his house in Milwaukee, attacked him as he tried to move his car.

Gonzalez was also ordered by Circuit Judge Kevin Martens to remain in the state until the charges are resolved. He has been charged with first-degree intentional murder and attempted murder.

The report further noted that Wisconsin and Illinois are the only states that do not issue permits allowing private citizens to carry concealed handguns. Gonzalez was arrested twice for bringing handguns openly into stores, although he was not formally charged. (With Inputs from Agencies)
