Activision signs deal with Google to allow players to live stream ‘Black Ops II’ game play
With `Call of Duty: Black Ops II' scheduled to hit the markets on Tuesday, Call of Duty franchise publisher Activision has revealed in a recent announcement that it has inked an agreement with Google to give the players of Black Ops II the advantage of live streaming their game play.
Activision announced that it will be on Google's popular video-sharing site YouTube that players will be able to live stream their Call of Duty: Black Ops II game play. The move implies that with video games becoming more and more of a spectator sport, Google is making its first notable attempt to bring those spectators to YouTube.
The ability of the Black Ops II players to live stream their game play will unfold for them the benefit of not only sharing their game play and audio commentary on YouTube, but also their Webcam footage; that too sans the need of any new software or hardware.
According to the Activision announcement, Black Ops II will be available for streaming on the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 gaming consoles. The streaming feature has been created by Activision, in conjunction with Call of Duty game studio Treyarch.
About the live streaming of Black Ops II game play on YouTube, Sang Kim - YouTube's chief of game partnerships - said in a statement, with reference to the world of professional gaming, that the streaming move was "an awesome next step for the eSports community."
