Activision Blizzard planning to charge monthly fee for gameActivision Blizzard is reportedly planning to make the gamers pay a monthly fee for game under its popular "Call of Duty" series.

The publisher will release an online service called Call of Duty Elite this fall for the upcoming "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" as well as future editions. Activision plans to charge a monthly subscription fee for the service that will offer extra content including downloadable map packs and new levels.

The company has not decided as to how much subscription fee to charge its users but it is expected to be lower than other online-entertainment services. Some aspects of the service will be free including a feature derived from Facebook and it will also allow the gamers to analyze their performance within the game.

The analyze their performance within the game is usually seen on multiplayer games that run on personal computers but this is first of its kind. Activision is aiming to generate more revenues but gamers might oppose to the move as they believe that about $60 spent on the game in the first place should be enough.
