Aarushi murder: CBI asks accused to return from Nepal

Aarushi murderThe Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the murder of Aarushi Talwar and her family’s domestic help Hemraj Banjade in May last year, has asked the domestic help Raj Kumar to return from Nepal to face its interrogations afresh.

Raj Kumar is one of the three main accused in the case.

“Raj Kumar is expected to return to Noida during the first week of November to get grilled,” said a source on condition of anonymity, as he is not authorised to speak to the media.

Raj Kumar and the other two accused — Krishna Thadarai and domestic help Vijay Mandal— are out on bail since September last year. Thadarai too had gone back to Nepal after getting bail.

Thadarai used to work with Aarushi’s father Dr Rajesh Talwar, a dentist.

Raj Kumar’s lawyer Naresh Yadav confirmed the expected return of his client from Nepal. “Raj Kumar had called me to say that he would be returning next week to assist in the Aarushi probe. He is currently waiting for his 12th grade examination to get over,” said Yadav.

Raj Kumar is currently staying with his family in Kapilvastu, Nepal. A local Nepalese police officer had communicated to him CBI’s directive asking him to return to Noida, said Yadav.

The CBI had re-constituted its probe team in the case early in September. Last month, the agency had also recovered Aarushi’s mobile phone.
