In a major upset, Divij Sharan has defeated Yuki Bhambri in the quarterfinal of men’s single event of the ITF Futures tournament.

With this defeat, Yuki’s hopes demolished for second successive ITF title on Thursday.

Divij, seeded fifth in the tournament, has thumped the fourth seeded Yuki in a three setter match by 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 to advance into the semifinals of the tournament.

With this win over Yuki, Divij has taken revenge of his defeat in the quarterfinals of the last ITF tournament and halted Yuki’s way to the third ITF title.

Divij will now clash with the second seeded Vishnu Vardhan in the semifinal to book place in the grand finale who has outplayed the eighth seeded Purav Raja in a three setter match by 6-7(8), 6-3, 7-5 in the quarterfinal match.

Meanwhile, Rohan Gajjar,  seeded third, has defeated Korean Hyun-Woo Nam in straight sets by 6-0, 6-3 and he will lock horns with the top seed Kento Takeuchi of Japan who has defeated the national champion Ranjeet Virali Murugesan by 6-3, 6-3.
