68 % polling in Chhattisgarh
The second and final phase of voting for Chhattisgarh Assembly elections recorded a 68 per cent turnout and passed off peacefully. An estimated 68 per cent polling was recorded in the remaining 51 of the 90 Assembly constituencies and it might go little higher, Deputy Election Commissioner Jaiprakash told. "The polling was peaceful" and there was brisk polling right from the morning, he added.
But People in five polling stations boycotted the polls citing lack of development work in their area. On the other hand, some unidentified persons attacked the vehicle of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi in Bilaspur.
The incident occurred when Jogi was visiting a poll booth in Girwar, under Marwahi Assembly constituency which went to polls in last phase. Large scale of Naxalite violence was seen during the first phase of polling on Nov 14 for the 39 constituencies in which a flight engineer of IAF and a CRPF man were killed.
55 per cent turnout was registered in first phase polling.
