125 new swine flu cases reportedOn Tuesday, 125 fresh swine flu cases were reported in the city, taking the number of patients infected with the virus 8,626.
“Of the total 125 positive cases, 67 were children. With this, the total number of swine flu cases reported to date is 8,626 of which 4,992 are that of children,” Delhi Health Minister Kiran Walia said.
So far, 60 people have died in the city due to the pandemic virus, she said.
Walia said, “The government was doing its best in providing treatment to H1N1 patients in government hospitals.”
“Children are more prone to infection because their immunity level is low,” said Anjan Prakash, nodal officer for swine flu appointed by the Delhi government.
According to the World Health Organisation, India continues to report the maximum number of cases of swine
flu in the South-East Asian region.
