12 killed, 35 injured in separate accidents in Orissa
Bhubaneswar, May 29 : At least 12 people were killed and about 35 others injured, ten of them critically, in separate road accidents in Orissa.
A mini bus overturned near Phulbani, the District headquarters of Kandhamal District, this morning, killing four persons and injuring 31, nine of them critically.
The overcrowded bus was travelling from Khajuripada to Phulbani when the mishap took place. The injured have been admitted to a hospital at Phulbani.
In Rayagada district another accident took place, where three labourers were killed and two others injured when a brick-laden tractor trolley overturned in Muniguda area on Wednesday night. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital.
In another accident, an insurance company's Development Officer was killed and another critically injured when the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a bus on National Highway 23 in the outskirt of Rourkela in Sundergarh district on Wednesday.
A man identified as Prasanta Bal (34) was run over by a dumper while crossing a road at Jalda market, near Rourkela on Wednesday.
Soon after the incident there was road block by irate public disrupting normal traffic on NH-23 for about four hours.
A tractor overturned at Sahajbahel village, about 75 km from Rourkela on Wednesday, killing two people.
In another accident, a six-year-old boy was killed when an unknown vehicle hit him on a highway, 60 km from Rourkela in Sundergarh District on Wednesday. (ANI)
