Hamilton (New Zealand), Mar. 10: Hamilton's Indian community is expected to turn out in force to vocally voice their support for Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s boys during the fourth one day international to be played against the Black Caps at Seddon Park.

The Indian team with international superstar cricket reputations wasn’t expected in the city until today, but Indian fans were waiting outside the Novotel Hotel last night for autographs.

Kiwi fans tend to rest easy on the ground''''s grassy banks, but Indian fans prefer to be nearer to their cricketing heroes and spend much of the game lining the boundary fence.

They''''ll also be making their presence felt the same as England''''s travelling fans, The Barmy Army.

"We have loud voices, so 1000 or so (Indian fans) will balance out the rest," stuff. co. nz quoted Mr. Modak, a fan, as saying.

Modak said Indians revered cricket the same way many New Zealanders looked on rugby.

"Cricket is the lifeline of every Indian child. When I grew up, most of my Sundays we used to spend on cricket grounds not as flash as we get over here, but any level field with 22 yards of clear track, we''''ll have our matches," Modak said.

While in the past members of the Indian touring team had dined with members of the local Indian community, Modak said tighter schedules and security concerns meant that was no longer possible.

Northern Districts Cricket Association chief executive David Cooper said two-thirds of tickets for the game had been sold, with several thousand tickets still available.

The game is scheduled to start at 2 p. m. Showers are forecast. (ANI)
