Zardari’s spokesman offered to resign during political crisis

Zardari’s spokesman offered to resign during political crisisIslamabad, Mar. 23 : During last week's political crisis in Pakistan, Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar had offered to resign.

PPP Information Secretary Fauzia Wahab confirmed that Babar had offered to resign and demanded that others, who were responsible for the political crisis, should do the same.

However, President Asif Ali Zardari somehow convinced Babar not to follow Sherry Rehman and Raza Rabbani, who had resigned from the cabinet for different reasons, The Dawn reports.

It is believed that Babar, who is also the party's spokesman, got emotional during a meeting with PPP leaders, jointly chaired by President Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.

According to sources, Babar accepted that the media management during the whole crisis could have been much better.

Babar also admitted that the PPP central and provincial leadership had committed serious mistakes by letting the water rise to the danger level.

"We should take some corrective measures. We must fix responsibility. And we must make sure this should never happen again," sources quoted him as saying.

Sensing the gravity of the situation, Zardari and Gilani advised him to calm down since the party and the government needed people like him. (ANI)
