Xpeng pushes forward with P7 production at Guangdong facility

Chinese electric vehicle maker Xiaopeng Motors has announced its plans to manufacture at least 10,000 Xpeng P7 all-electric sedans cumulatively at its self-built and wholly-owned factory in the Guangdong Province of China.

The Xpeng P7 all-electric sedan was introduced to the world earlier this year, with the very first batch of the EVs hitting the market in late June. By the end of September, the company had sold 6,535 units of the, including 2,573 during the month of September alone.

The impressive sales figures made it the 10th best-selling vehicle among EVs. The impressive sales and growing demand for the EV prompted to set a milestone of ten thousand units for producing and manufacturing the Xpeng P7.

The all-electric sedan comes equipped with a 81 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery with energy density of 170 Wh per kilogram (kg) on the pack level. It offers a range of 706 kilometer or 439 miles of NEDC range in rear-wheel-drive version.

The electric vehicle has garnered high interest from industry experts as it offers a lot of innovative tech features. Respectable reviews suggest that it is one of the best EV models currently available in the People’s Republic of China.

According to the Chinese manufacturer’s claims, the P7 EV is really efficient, thanks to the use of the Infineon 950 IGBT component inside the drive unit. The vehicle’s peak motor efficiency has been reported at 97.5 per cent, while a low drag coefficient has been pegged at Cd 0.236.

Claiming that the P7 offers an unparalleled blend of elegance, style and comfort, the company stated that the P7 has been designed and built to offer more miles on quicker charge, accelerate faster and offer smoother control.

Commenting on the P7 EV, Xiaopeng Motors said, "The P7 smart EV sports sedan is designed and built with four goals: drive further and smarter, charge quicker, accelerate faster and control smoother. The chassis of the P7 EV was jointly developed by Xiaopeng Motors with a luxury sports-style German engineering brand.

Xiaopeng Motors’ Zhaoqing, Guangdong Province-based factory was set up over a period of just fifteen months, which is close to what American EV maker Tesla did with its Giga Shanghai facility, though having a lot more experience as well as resources.

The price of Xpeng P7 all-electric sedan in China (after deduction of subsidy) is 229,900 yuan (US$34,400) to 349,900 yuan (US$52,300).
