Woman sues riding club for plastic surgery after horse attack
Hong Kong - A woman who suffered a permanent scar after being bitten by a horse is suing a riding club for 521,110 Hong Kong dollars (66,800 dollars) to cover the cost of plastic surgery and damages, a media report said Saturday.
In a writ issued against the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Paddy Wong- Schupp Yuen-yee claims the scar made her embarrassed to wear sleeveless tops, the South China Morning Post said.
Wong-Schupp is claiming 150,000 Hong Kong dollars for the cost of plastic surgery and a further 371,110 dollars for what she said are loss and damages.
She was bitten on October 1, 2007, during a visit to the Beas River Riding School when a horse leant its head and neck out of its stall and attacked the woman. A medical report said that Wong- Schupp's upper right arm was injured, and she was hospitalized for three days.
The writ said that Wong-Schupp "is embarrassed to wear upper garments exposing her scarred upper right arm and confines herself to wearing long-sleeved upper garments to hide her disfigurement."
She accuses the club of negligence because it did not install a guard rail at over the entrance to the stall to prevent the horse from reaching out. (dpa)
