Windows 7 speeds past VistaThe latest OS released by the Microsoft platform windows 7 accounts 14.8 percent of the OS market, leaping ahead of Vista, according to Janco Associates, a management consulting firm which deals in Browser and Operating System Market Share.

Vista, the older OS from Microsoft is losing ground as the report elucidates further. The Janco CEO Victor Janulaitis said, "There are now more users of Windows 7 than Vista. That is a major factor in their improved record earnings. The last OS that was accepted as quickly in the market was XP."

Janulaitis further added that although it is a good news on OS front, but is drawback in case of browser market share which has gone down to a similar level of the year1998.

Meanwhile in the browser market, Microsoft tends to lose its share. Internet Explorer, the browser of Microsoft has lost 3.7 percent market share. Firefox the current number one is steady at 17.8 percent. Google with its Chrome and Google Desktop accounts for 5.4 percent of the share.

The top five browser market share ratings are: Microsoft's IE 67.73 percent; Firefox 17.88 percent; Google (Desktop & Chrome) 5.40 percent; Mozilla 1.36 percent; and Safari 0.98 percent.
