Walk-Man Humanoid Robot operates in Risky Environment

International scientists have created robots of various types, from wheeled robots to animal-shaped ones. But, now their focus is to create a robot that could substitute humans in dangerous scenarios and integrate in a world that accommodates human-shaped bodies. Now, scientists have created a humanoid robot that has many advantages over previous robots.

University of Pisa and the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia scientists claimed that they have created a humanoid robot capable of operating human tools. One of the most amazing things of the robot is that it can interact with its environment like a human. The scientists said their new robot, Walk-Man, can be effective in conditions where it is difficult for humans to venture.

Nikos Tsagarakis, lead developer of Walk-Man, said it will not be difficult for the world to accommodate the Walk-Man robot. The robot will prove effective design for operating in collapsed buildings, lifting collapsed masonry and many other things, Tsagarakis added.

Tsagarakis said there is no doubt that the world is designed for shapes that look like humans. Tools are always designed to be controlled by human hands, as per Tsagarakis. “You have also areas that are actually appropriate for our body forms. So it means that if you build a robot that has a very similar form, you need to adapt less the environment in order to have this robot operational within such a space”, Tsagarakis added.

According to the robot’s developers, Walk-Man is capable of navigating through difficult environment. It shows body motion dynamics by using its limbs, they added.
