Volkswagen Rocktan may hit Indian roads soon
Running hard with an aim of getting its share out of lucrative Indian automobile market, Volkswagen may soon launch the crossover sports utility vehicle called Rocktan soon in the domestic circuit.
In fact, sources also state that the company is also looking at launching a product based on the SX4 platform after acquiring a 19% stake in Suzuki Motor Corporation.
While the knowledge exchange process going on between the two companies is still in the early stages, but the entire industry is waiting for the result of the development as it may chart a new success story for Volkswagen on the Indian turf.
If the company launches its Rocktan in the Indian market, it is expected to be positioned between the Polo and Tiguan. In fact, the experts are of a view that the upcoming model will sport a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine and a 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that will be launched at a price tag of about Rs 12 lakh (Rs 1.2 million) which may go down if the company plans to manufacture it at its Chakan unit.
