Volkswagen India MD Arvind Saxena to join GM India as new CEO

Volkswagen India MD Arvind Saxena to join GM India as new CEOArvind Saxena, managing director of Volkswagen India, is reportedly all-set to leave the German vehicle maker and join General Motors (GM) India as the new chief executive officer.

Mr. Saxena will replace GM India's outgoing managing director Lowell Paddock. GM Indian decided to move out its Paddock midway through his term months after a government-appointed committee accused him of a corporate fraud.

A company executive, with direct knowledge of the matter, said Paddock would be shifted to GM's International Office at Singapore.

Paddock, who had joined GM India around a couple of years back, was one of the managing directors under whom the manufacturer had landed in controversy over Tavera emission levels. A government-appointed committee accused GM India and its top management, including Paddock, of involving in corporate fraud between 2005 and 2012.

The Tavera recall prompted GM to expel most of the executives who were accused of involving in the corporate fraud.

GM Global's international operations head Stefan Jacoby admitted in an interview that some processes were not monitored properly which paved way for the Tavera fiasco. He also assured that the company had taken steps to prevent a recurrence.

Speaking about the issue, Jacoby said, "There had been a lack of sufficient processes. These processes are now fixed and this will not happen again. It's much, much more under control now..."

When asked about Paddock's transfer to the company's global office, a spokesperson for GM India declined to comment on the matter.
