Vodafone Plans To Invest $2 Bn To Expand Indian Network
New Delhi: Vodafone is ready to invest around $2 billion on a yearly basis for increasing and fortifying its Indian network.
Expressing that Vodafone is also keen on sharing its substructure with its rivals rather than producing them on its own, Vodafone Chief Executive Officer Arun Sarin said that since the company’s debut into India market, its capital expenditure had increased twofold.
While talking to the news persons, Mr. Sarin said, “We are now spending $2 billion a year. We plan to cover 90 per cent of the market from 50 per cent now by bundling affordable handsets to reach out to the masses, particularly in small towns and villages.”
According to Mr. Sarin, Vodafone is expected to share its infrastructure with peers with the intention that the companies need not raise their personal towers all over. This would assist Vodafone and other companies to extend their network crosswise India.
He also told that there were no immediate plans to settle on any acquirement or purchasing the telecommunication tower business of other groups.
Primarily, the Foundation would concentrate on projects related with offering education to young persons crosswise the country, allowing the growth of higher talent sets. It would start working pursuant to the completion of the official registration procedure, in compliancy with duty and foreign contribution legislation and trustees appointment.
In the meantime, Mr. Sarin also contacted Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram. On the debate over $1.7-billion tax liability rising out of the Hutch-Vodafone transaction, Mr. Sarin stated that the company would wait for the court judgment on the subject.
