‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya Is Not Dropped’ – Gowtham Menon

‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya Is Not Dropped’ – Gowtham Menon Gowtham Menon’s Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya was a runaway success in both Tamil and Telugu titled Ye Maaya Chesavo. The film happens to be one of the biggest top-drawers of box office in 2010. Gowtham Menon had started off with preproduction phase for the Hindi remake that went stalled on halfway. Apparently, rumors were that the project has been dropped due to some creative difference of opinions between Gowtham Menon and actor Prateik Babbar.

But the filmmaker has denied such news as baseless rumors as he clarifies that the project is dropped, but will take some time to commence. Says Gowtham Menon: ‘We have already completed the preproduction phase and we were supposed to kick-start the shooting by December. Since Prateik Babbar got occupied with the promotional campaigns of his upcoming release Dhobi Ghat produced by Aamir Khan and directed by his wife Kiran Rao, we have postponed the shooting. Amy Jackson underwent vivid training for past one month as we rehearsed some scenes as well. Once, Pratheik Babbar is back from the promotional phase, we’ll start working on the film.’

The Hindi remake of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya is produced by Gowtham Menon’s Photon Kathaas Factory in collaboration with Fox Star Studios.
