Venus Remedies to launch pain killer post patent in India

Venus-RemediesOn Tuesday, Venus Remedies said that it is going to launch a new pain killer in India. The drug would be once-in-a-day dose, which will be injected inside a patient's body.

Name of the medicine is Aceclofenac OD and it is the first of its kind painkiller in the market.

The pharmaceutical company took this step after it managed to get a patent for the drug from the Indian authorities.

Venus plans to hit the market by the end of 2010 and aims at grabbing a market share of 10 per cent in the painkiller segment.

Talking about the drug, the company said that it will be non steroidal anti inflammatory drug. It can be used by the patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, low back pain, ankylosing spondylitis, dental pain and post traumatic pain, besides others.

It also said that the medicine gives instant relief and for that reason people will go for it more. It remains effective for 24 hours against the conventional form, which works for only 8 hours.

Talking about this, Manu Chaudhary, Director of R&D, Venus said that it will become one of the top selling drugs very soon.
