US Open: Federer beats Tsonga to enter semi-finals against DjokovicWashington, Sept 9 : Five-time champion Roger Federer has reached the US Open semi-finals after defeating French tennis star Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Federer beat Tsonga 6-4, 6-3, 6-3, and will now face Serbia’s Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals.

Djokovic beat fellow countryman Janko Tipsarevic in five dramatic sets score to reach the semi-finals.

"I played great. For me it continues, and that is awesome. I''m very happy with the way I''m playing, the way I''m moving and I''m enjoying myself on the court," The BBC quoted Federer, as saying.

Federer holds a 3-1 edge over Djokovic, beating him in the 2007 U. S. Open final and losing to him in last year''s semifinals.

In their most recent head-to-head meeting, in this year''s French Open semifinals, Federer ended Djokovic''s 43-match winning streak.

"I don''t know how much Paris is going to help me or help him. It was just one of those great matches of the year. It was special in the moment itself. I hope it''s something similar," Federer said, looking ahead to Saturday''s semi-finals.

Djokovic is 62-2 in 2011 with nine titles, including Wimbledon and the Australian Open. (ANI)
