US Department of State website shows POK as part of Pakistan

US Department of State website shows POK as part of PakistanAccording to the latest reports, a map on the official website of the US Department of State shows the disputed Pakistan-administered Kashmir region as a part of Pakistan.

The map on the website does not include any note about the status of the region being disputed, as it is also claimed by India. The showing of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) as part of Pakistan could spurt into a diplomatic row between India and the United Sates, which claim to share a close strategic partnership.

The map on US official website completely ignores India’s claims over the territory. Under its A-Z list of countries, the website ‘www.state-.gov’ carries profiles and maps of all countries with which the country has diplomatic relations.

The possible goof-up comes after Google admitted to posting wrong maps and rectified its maps. The company’s ‘Insights For Search’ tool had depicted Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) as being a part of Pakistan.

On the other hand, the same map shows Aksai Chin region in the north which shares a boundary with China as a region disputed as it is claimed by India.
