United agree to record shirt sponsorship deal
London - Manchester United confirmed on Wednesday that they have agreed to a shirt sponsorship deal with American financial giant Aon Corp believed to be worth
20 million pounds (32.6 million dollars) a year.
United's previous shirt sponsor, AIG, decided not to renew its deal when it expires at the end of next season following huge losses related to the global financial crisis.
"Today's announcement clearly strengthens our position as one of the biggest clubs in world football," said United chief executive David Gill.
"We look forward to being closely aligned with the world leader in risk management, a firm which shares our values and is an exciting partner for Manchester United."(dpa)
